Recently I had the opportunity to appear on a podcast I admire: American Private Investigator with Paul Jaeb.
I was interviewed to discuss how to build and grow your investigative business where we touched on some critical lessons that I have learned over the past five years.
Here are some highlights from the podcast:
- My favorite and least favorite parts of running a business. Any guesses which part of running a private investigator business I enjoy the most?
- The most underutilized tool available to any small business is to establish yourself as a thought leader. You would be surprised how often small businesses and entrepreneurs can leverage thought leadership into work for themselves.
- While I have been criticized often by my peers, clients strongly value our transparency. In the information age, it’s impossible to hide behind a veil of secrecy.
- The best marketing tool is the work that you do. It’s critical to stay focused on doing great work. If I feel someone else can do a better job, I refer it out. Do work you know you can do a great job at; if it is not on your wheelhouse, pass on it.
I hope you enjoy it!
